Southeast Family YMCA sponsoring Ditto Landing Clean-Up Day May 7

(Southeast Family YMCA/blog)

The Southeast Family YMCA is sponsoring a Ditto Landing Clean-Up Day on Saturday, May 7, from 8 a.m. until noon as part of the YMCA’s Togetherhood Initiative. The campaign is the YMCA’s signature program for social responsibility made up of Togetherhood Volunteers that want to make the community a better place to live.

This Clean-Up Day evolved from a partnership between the Southeast Family YMCA, Operation Green Team, Keep Alabama Beautiful, Huntsville City Council president pro tem Jennie Robinson, and Brandi Quick, executive director of Ditto Landing.

Numerous outdoor projects are involved in the Clean-Up Day including trash pick-up, trimming bushes and growth, spreading topsoil and compost, removing landscaping fabric, cutting down dead trees, and striping parking lots to name a few.

All ages and skill levels are welcome to participate, and volunteers do not have to be a member of the YMCA. Church groups, scouts, and students who need volunteer hours, volunteer hours for work, or those who just want to give back to the community are all welcome.

Togetherhood volunteers will meet at the Ditto Store/Fuel Dock at 293 Ditto Landing Road at 8 a.m. May 7.
