The University of Alabama in Huntsville will host its annual Spread Life Festival and Plant Sale on April 18, offering a day focused on plants, wellness and community engagement.
The event, organized by the university’s Department of Biological Sciences, is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Shelby Center for Science and Technology greenhouse and courtyard on campus. It is free and open to the public.
Hosted by the UAH Greenhouse and Green Club, the festival combines a plant sale with educational programming and hands-on activities. Attendees will be able to browse a selection of greenhouse-grown plants, including medicinal herbs and seasonal varieties, while learning about the role plants and food can play in supporting overall health.
Organizers say the event also highlights student- and staff-led initiatives in areas such as space biology, controlled environment agriculture and “food as medicine,” giving visitors a closer look at research and programs underway at the university.
“Spread Life is about more than what we grow…it’s about how we grow together as a community,” said Lara Rae Holladay, program manager of the UAH Greenhouse. “We’re creating a space where education, wellness, and connection come to life.”
Proceeds from the event will support the Green Club and ongoing greenhouse operations at UAH.
