HUNTSVILLE — Army. Navy. Air Force. Coast Guard. Merchant Marines.
Representatives of these service academies will join military recruiters next month at the second annual Military Service and Appreciation Day hosted by Rep. Dale Strong.
The event is Aug. 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Huntsville High School. Representatives from the U.S. Military Academy, Naval Academy, Air Force Academy, Coast Guard Academy, and the Marine Merchant Academy will be on hand to answer questions and provide information to students and parents. They will be joined by recruiters with the Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force, Space Force, and Coast Guard; and representatives from university ROTC programs across the state.
“The fact that so many North Alabamians willingly answer the call to serve our nation in uniform speaks volumes of the patriotism held by our district’s youth,” said Strong (R-Monrovia). “It is my honor to nominate young men and women to attend U.S. service academies and ensure students are aware of the many avenues to military service.”
To attend one of the prestigious academies, a student must be nominated by a member of Congress, the vice president, or the president.
Strong’s appointees typically fare well in the selection process. He has one of the highest acceptance rates for West Point appointees in Congress.
More information on the nomination process will be provided at the event and can also be found HERE.
