HUNTSVILLE — It was “good news” when Dale Strong, the GOP candidate for the Fifth Congressional District, received a phone call from former President Donald Trump.
“I am humbled to have President Trump’s endorsement,” Strong said in a Facebook post. “It is a special day when the President calls you with that kind of good news.”
In a Wednesday post to Truth Social, Trump said Strong will serve as “a fantastic” member of Congress on behalf of the Tennessee Valley.
“Dale Strong will be a fantastic Representative for North Alabama in Congress,” said Trump. “Dale was with us from the beginning and, in Congress, he will Grow our Economy, Fight Inflation, Stop Illegal Immigration, Strengthen our Military, Support our Vets and Brave Law Enforcement, and Champion Conservative Values.
“Dale Strong is a Fighter for our America First Agenda, and has my Complete and Total Endorsement!”
Strong, a three-term chairman of the Madison County Commission, emerged as the overwhelming favorite of district voters in the primary and runoff elections this year.
In announcing Trump’s endorsement of his candidacy, Strong slammed the Biden administration on issues relating to national security, illegal immigration and inflation.
“It is sad to see how two years of Joe Biden has weakened our national defense, opened our southern border and sent the price of food and gas skyrocketing,” Strong said. “The first step to save America comes in 12 days!! I need your vote!”
The general election is Nov. 8.
