Strong nominated for House Armed Services Committee

WASHINGTON — U.S. Rep. Dale Strong (R-Monrovia) has been nominated to serve on the House Armed Services Committee for the 118th Congress, the House Steering Committee announced. His nomination is expected to be ratified this week.

“When I was sworn in as your representative, I took an oath to protect and defend the Constitution,” said Strong. “My first responsibility is to provide for a strong national defense. Serving on the Armed Services Committee will allow me to directly advocate for the common-sense policies that strengthen our national security and best serve America’s men and women in uniform.”

Strong said his top priorities are to be a champion for Alabama’s contributions to national security, and to promote continued economic growth in North Alabama.

“Alabama is home to many military equities, but the Fifth District is especially proud to host Redstone Arsenal,” said Strong. “From the Army Materiel Command, aviation and missile programs, and the Missile Defense Agency, Redstone is critical for America’s national defense.

“Our country is made safer by the commitment of the men and women of Alabama that faithfully serve the military community.”

Strong said he looks forward to supporting our nation’s warfighter and Alabama’s military-connected community.

“I am thankful for the confidence placed in me by my constituents and Chairman Mike Rogers,” Strong said. “I look forward to continuing to showcase Alabama’s innovation and ingenuity through my role on this committee.”

Committee Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Haleyville) said Strong is the perfect match for the seat because of the district’s importance to the nation’s defense.

“I’m thrilled that the Steering Committee has recommended Rep. Dale Strong to serve on the House Armed Services Committee,” he said. “Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District is foundational to Alabama’s continued leadership in the defense of our nation.

“Rep. Strong will be a critical voice on our committee. I look forward to the House Republican Conference ratifying the Steering Committee’s recommendation.”

Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District is home to Redstone Arsenal, as well as hundreds of defense contractors that support its mission.
