Stylin’ and profilin’ at the Parkway Place Back-to-School Bash

HUNTSVILLE – Grab a shopping bag and join the party Saturday for the Back-to-School Bash at Parkway Place. The festivities are from 1-3 p.m.

Models from Huntsville’s PAMA Agency will strut their stuff with styles from Buckle, Hollister, American Eagle, Francesca’s, Hibbett Sports, The Southern Decorista, Rich Broke Boutique, Dillard’s, Belk and more.

Laura Beth Hammond, owner of Rich Broke Boutique, will have four models on the runway showing off their latest women’s styles for high school and college. She said to watch for three hot styles that are trending this year.

“Shackets, graphic tees and cowboy boots,” Hammond said. “We can’t keep cowboy boots in stock, and it isn’t because we can’t get them, it’s because they are really popular right now.”

Shackets, she said, are lightweight flannel checkered shirts worn over dresses and T-shirts or tied around the waist.

“Every generation has their own name for a returning style,” Hammond said with a laugh. “Shackets are, basically, plaid flannel shirts worn over other pieces of clothing, and last year they were really popular and this year even more so.”

Other activities include a face-painter, a balloon artist, free treats and refreshments from the Great American Cookie and Coca Cola and music from Sylvia Dean.
