Summer lawn challenge issued to Huntsville’s District 1

HUNTSVILLE – Residents in North Huntsville need to sharpen their mower blades, apply the pre-emergent and weed killers and check the weed eater line.

District 1 Council Member Devyn Keith invites his constituents to participate in the third annual A Cut Above Summer Landscaping Challenge.

Residents can nominate their yard or a neighbor’s for the competition. The top three yards will be recognized for Best Landscaping, Most Captivating Floral Display and Best Curb Appeal.

Nominations close July 31.

“The real winners are all of District 1,” Keith said. “With everyone working to make their yard look the best, it will be a pleasure for visitors and residents to enjoy all of the beautiful yards and make our city look even more spectacular.”

To submit entries, complete the nomination form. Those who receive awards will take home prizes and a complimentary yard sign designating their title.

Winners selected by a committee of city leaders will be contacted in mid-August. The City Council will recognize each homeowner at a public meeting that month.
