HUNTSVILLE — It may be known as Lobsterfest, but the Huntsville tradition is more than fresh Maine crustaceans.
The St. Thomas Episcopal Church Lobsterfest, an annual family friendly event for 31 years, features live music, an artisan fair, and array of menu items from fresh Maine lobster, barbecue, ribs, desserts, and much more.
The Lobsterfest 5K Run race gets things started at 8 a.m. Saturday and the festivities run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
“Lobsterfest is a very important part of who we are at St. Thomas,” said Rev. Donavan Cain, rector of the parish. “For over thirty years now, Lobsterfest has given our church the opportunity to offer a fun, family-oriented event to our local community, as well as raise money that goes directly to ministries and organizations serving those in need here in Huntsville and in the country of Honduras.
“We feel incredibly blessed every year by what Lobsterfest brings to our St. Thomas Church family, and we love being able to share that blessing with all of Huntsville.”

Proceeds from Lobsterfest are divided among three organizations: First Stop, Patterson Place and Honduras Medical & Education Mission.
- First Stop is a local nonprofit that encounters the homeless where they are, connects them to critical services and support, and empowers them toward independent, sustainable living. St. Thomas supports this local organization through volunteer work and monetary donations.
- Patterson Place is a new nonprofit in Huntsville that started with space at St. Thomas before expanding and relocating to a larger facility. Patterson Place is a community where citizens with disabilities can continue to learn and work; being celebrated and empowered in a God-centered environment as they engage in meaningful work and service.
- The St. Thomas Honduras Medical & Education Mission provides year-round essential care to struggling communities in the northern part of the country. St. Thomas provides educational help, medical care, and other resources and works directly with the Episcopal Diocese of Honduras by dispatching doctors, dentists, and other professionals to serve in Honduran clinics.
