Two of Teledyne Brown Engineering’s modeling and simulation programs have again earned recognition for the processes behind software used to support defense, health care and government missions.
The Huntsville-based company announced it recently completed a Capability Maturity Model Integration Development Maturity Level 3 reappraisal for its Extended Air Defense Simulation and Medical Modeling, Simulation and Analysis programs.
The Level 3 designation indicates an organization uses defined, documented and standardized development processes, with an emphasis on consistently applying those practices across projects and improving them over time.
“This achievement reaffirms our commitment to disciplined engineering practices and continuous improvement,” said Scott Hall, president of Teledyne Brown Engineering. “For more than 20 years, our EADSIM and MMSA teams have maintained this level of process excellence while delivering mission-critical solutions for defense customers.”
EADSIM is Teledyne Brown’s long-running simulation and analysis environment for modeling complex air and missile defense scenarios. The software can be used by commanders, trainers and analysts to evaluate defense systems in simulated operational environments.
The program has deep roots in Huntsville’s missile defense community. Teledyne Brown has developed and sustained EADSIM since it reached initial operational capability in 1989. The company previously described the system as an integrated simulation of air, space and missile warfare used for analysis, training, testing and operational planning.
The company’s MMSA program focuses on modeling, simulation and analytics for health care and operational readiness, providing decision-support capabilities for military and civilian organizations.
Teledyne Brown said maintaining the Level 3 appraisal helps ensure its software programs operate under established processes intended to improve quality, reduce risk and provide greater predictability for customers.
Founded in Huntsville in 1953, Teledyne Brown has spent more than seven decades supporting the nation’s defense and space missions. The tech company provides engineering, advanced manufacturing, modeling and simulation and other capabilities for the defense, space and energy industries.
