OAK RIDGE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Valley Corridor will convene in Oak Ridge next month to celebrate its 30th anniversary, bringing together hundreds of science, technology, and policy leaders from across the region and the nation.
The 2025 TVC National Summit will take place May 29-30 at Y-12 National Security Complex and New Hope Center in Oak Ridge, Tenn.
Co-hosted by U.S. Rep. Chuck Fleischmann (R-Tenn.), CNS/Y-12, and the city of Oak Ridge, the summit’s theme is “Looking Back. Leaping Forward. Celebrating 30 Years of National Leadership Through Regional Cooperation.”
The two-day event will feature discussions on national security, advanced energy solutions, space exploration, quantum, AI, and cybersecurity, along with dozens of presenters and exhibitors showcasing the latest innovations and opportunities shaping the Corridor and our Nation’s future.
Speakers include Fleischmann; Marshall Space Flight Center Director Joseph Pelfrey; U.S. Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.); Commissioner Stuart McWhorter, Tennessee Department of Economic and Community Development; and University of Tennessee Chancellor Donde Plowman.
The concept of a “science and technology corridor” in East Tennessee was first envisioned by former Tennessee Gov. Lamar Alexander in the early 1980s to strengthen collaboration between the Department of Energy’s Oak Ridge facilities, the University of Tennessee, and the Tennessee Valley Authority.
In 1995, then-Rep. Zach Wamp convened the first technology summit in Oak Ridge to highlight the region’s vast science and technology assets and their economic impact.
The merging of these ideas led to the formation of the Tennessee Valley Corridor — an award-winning nonprofit driving regional economic development. Representing 13 congressional districts working together across five states in the Tennessee Valley, the TVC has worked for 30 years to advance and expand important federal missions, and to leverage those investments for more private sector job opportunities across the region.
Today, federal investment in the region approaches $75 billion annually and directly employs more than 150,000 across 82 federal agencies.
