MADISON — Toyota Field continues to offer a multitude of entertainment options and the next one up is The Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair. The popular event opens Thursday, May 12 with rides, games, and fair-favorite foods.
This is second year for the Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair at Toyota Field as the team continues to market itself to be more than just baseball.
“We’ve always envisioned the home of the Trash Pandas to be more than just a ballpark,” said team Executive Vice President and General Manager Garrett Fahrmann. “As part of our commitment to the community, we host a large number of non-baseball events.”
In the past year, hundreds of thousands of people have turned out for non-baseball events bringing in more than $300,000 in revenue to the city of Madison.
Crowd favorites have included the Rocket City Christmas Light Show, movie nights and a recent Kentucky Derby Party. Other events include a Trash Panda Crawfish Festival on July 2, and the recently announced Oct. 15 football game between the University of North Alabama and in-state and ASUN Conference rival Jacksonville State. The game is expected to draw around 10,000 people.
Between the wide array of events offered and a Trash Pandas baseball team currently leading their division, Toyota Field stays busy.
The Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair runs May 12-22. The fair will be open 4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 1 p.m. Saturdays and Sundays.
“There is something coming up for everyone at Toyota Field and the Big Ol’ Ballpark Fair will bring out the kids in all of us,” Fahrmann said.
