MADISON – Dale Strong led the way among elected officials in the state who endorsed then-candidate Donald Trump for president seven years ago. The former Commander in Chief returned the favor Wednesday.
The former president, who is again campaigning in an effort to return to the White House, endorsed Strong in his re-election bid for Congress in Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District. Strong was the first north Alabama leader to endorse President Trump during the 2016 Presidential Primary and hosted him for a massive rally at Madison City Stadium.
Trump previously backed Strong in his campaign for Congress in 2022 and his office sent a news release regarding the latest endorsement.
“It was great talking with President Trump again this week for 25 minutes about the future of America,’’ Strong said in the statement. “He truly understands North Alabama’s role in national security, agriculture, propulsion and space exploration. I was honored to host him on two occasions previously in our community and I look forward to having him here again soon in the Rocket City! As the first Congressman to endorse him for President, I am honored to once again receive President Donald Trump‘s endorsement for the United States Congress representing Alabama’s 5th District!”
The former president also released a statement:
“Congressman Dale Strong is a terrific representative of Alabama’s Fifth Congressional District! Dale was with us from the beginning, and in Congress, he is working hard to Grow our Economy, Fight Inflation, Stop Illegal Immigration, Support Our Brave Law Enforcement, Defend the Second Amendment, and Champion Conservative Values.
“Dale Strong is a warrior for our America First agenda, and he has my Complete and Total Endorsement!’’
The Republican Primary is March 5, 2024.
