WASHINGTON – Calling a ban on lead ammo and tackle unfair, Sen. Tommy Tuberville was joined by Sen. Katie Britt in cosponsoring the “Protecting Access for Hunters and Anglers Act.”

The legislation would prohibit the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, the Bureau of Land Management, and the U.S. Forest Service from banning the use of lead ammunition or tackle on public lands unless such action is supported by the best available science.

Tuberville (R-Auburn) was a cosponsor of the legislation last Congress.

“From Sand Mountain to the Gulf of America, Alabamians devote a large portion of their free time to hunting in the great outdoors,” said Tuberville. “Placing a ban on lead ammo and tackle is unfair to those who choose to enjoy nature and wildlife.

“As an avid outdoorsman, I will keep fighting to ensure the rights of Alabama hunters and anglers are protected.”

Tuberville and Britt (R-Montgomery) are joined by 25 other GOP senators in cosponsoring the bill.
