FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — The UAH men’s basketball team’s season of history came to an end Tuesday night.
The Chargers, ranked third in the country, lost 76-69 to top-seeded and No. 2 ranked Nova Southeastern in the NCAA Division II South Region Championship game.
UAH finished the season with a 32-2 record, the most wins in program history and a record 32-game winning streak.
Nova (33-1) will play in the Elite Eight in Evansville, Ind.
The Sharks led the Chargers 29-12 with 10 minutes remaining in the first half, but UAH was not going down without a fight as the Chargers shrunk the lead to just five points by the end of the half.
NSU led wire-to-wire as the Chargers continued clawing back into the game as they cut the lead to 70-69 with just over two minutes remaining.
Ultimately, the UAH comeback fell short in the final minutes as the Sharks scored six unanswered points to end the game.
Daniel Saylor had his second-highest scoring night with 22 points along with 14 rebounds and three blocks.
Blake Campbell scored 19 points on 5-for-13 shooting and a 3-for-7 from behind the arc. The graduate student also had six rebounds.
The Chargers wrap up the season as the highest scoring team in UAH history (88 points per game), and the highest win percentage in school history (94.1%).
