UAH men’s cross country runner Ahmed Ibrahim named NCAA Division II National Runner of the Week

NEW ORLEANS — After defeating several NCAA Division II All-Americans to win a race last weekend, UAH’s Ahmed Ibrahim was named the Division II National Athlete of the Week.

The US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association made the announcement with their National Athlete of the Week awards.

A grad student from Portland, Ore., Ibrahim won the 8K Lucian Rosa Invitational in a time of 24:10.0. He defeated six of last year’s NCAA Division II All-Americans in the race hosted by University of Wisconsin-Parkside. The time also ranks eighth all-time in UAH men’s cross country history.

The National Athlete of the Week is presented by the USTFCCCA communications staff at the beginning of each week to 14 collegiate cross country athletes, when applicable (male and female for each of the three NCAA divisions, the NAIA and the NJCAA).
