HUNTSVILLE – The University of Alabama in Huntsville men’s basketball team has had its status as one of the nation’s top programs confirmed, yet again.

The Chargers have been invited to participate for a second straight year at the 2022 Small College Basketball Tip-Off Classic. The tournament is Saturday and Sunday at the Jenkins Field House in Lakeland, Fla.

“We are excited to once again be a part of this prestigious event with some of the nation’s best programs, and we are honored to be considered one of them,” said UAH head coach John Shulman. “It will be a special weekend involving 10 elite teams, and it should be a great way to start the season.”

UAH participated in the inaugural edition of the distinguished preseason Division II tournament in 2016 and again last season.

The Chargers will play Nova Southeastern 12:15 p.m. CT Saturday and turn around to face Lincoln Memorial at 10 a.m. CT Sunday.

The other teams are Dallas Baptist, Flagler, Florida Southern, Hillsdale, Northwest Missouri State, Valdosta State and West Texas A&M.

UAH opens its season Wednesday with an exhibition game at Auburn. Tipoff is 7 p.m. and the game is available here.
