The University of North Alabama has landed among U.S. News & World Report’s Best Regional Universities in the South for the fifth consecutive year while adding two new distinctions to its list.

UNA was also recognized among the Most Innovative Regional Universities in the South and for Undergraduate Teaching among Regional Universities in the South, according to the university.

UNA President Dr. Ken Kitts said the recognition comes as the university continues to grow, add new degree programs and approaches the completion of its $100 million comprehensive fundraising campaign.

“UNA has consistently ranked well in the annual U.S. News & World Report rankings, and these high marks reflect the growth we have experienced, the launch of new degree programs across our academic colleges,” Kitts said.

He said the university’s first-time recognition for innovation and undergraduate teaching is particularly significant.

“Our addition to the list of colleges cited as Most Innovative and Best for Undergraduate Teaching speaks volumes about UNA’s unique ability to ensure our students enjoy their collegiate experience as they prepare to enter the workforce,” Kitts said.

U.S. News releases its Best Colleges rankings annually, evaluating schools using measures that include graduation rates, social mobility and graduate indebtedness.

UNA, based in Florence, offers undergraduate, graduate and doctoral programs across four academic colleges. The university has also experienced significant enrollment growth in recent years as it has expanded academic programs and its footprint in the Shoals.
