HUNTSVILLE — Bridge Street Town Centre’s annual kickoff to the holiday season will have a little purple and gold mixed in with the red, green, silver and white lights.
Lights Up, set for Friday at 4:30 p.m., is presented by Shine On, Gold: The Comprehensive Campaign for the University of North Alabama.
Featuring live performances by the Alabama Youth Ballet and local choir groups, Lights Up is a fun, family friendly event. Sprocket, the Rocket City Trash Pandas mascot, will bring some holiday cheer along with other characters.Â
You’ll want to make sure you’re in position by 6:45 p.m. when Santa hits the switch to illuminate Bridge Street’s 45-foot Christmas tree and start the holiday light show. The light show will continue Friday and Saturday nights through Christmas.
And, yes, the forecast calls for snow every Friday night at Bridge Street.
The north end fountains, near the Christmas tree, will have flurries during Lights Up, and Nov. 29, Dec. 6, 13, and 20 from 6-8 p.m. There will also be photo ops available by AlphaLit Huntsville.
More than 7,000 people are expected to enjoy this evening of seasonal magic, live entertainment, and light show, so get your holiday crew together and join the fun of Lights Up.
This season’s light show will benefit Kids to Love, an organization that supports children in foster care. The local foundation will be set up with its Bankston Motor Homes RV for gift-wrapping and donation drop-off near Dick’s Sporting Goods on the perimeter of Bridge Street.Â
