DECATUR – The Alabama Mountain Lakes Tourist Association was named a Silver winner in the Audio category of the 2022 MUSE Creative Awards for its “Unexpected Adventures in North Alabama” podcast. The MUSE Creative Awards and the MUSE Design Awards received more than 6,000 submissions this year from around the world.
Launched in August 2021, the “Unexpected Adventures in North Alabama” podcast takes listeners through what there is to see and experience in the 16 northernmost counties of Alabama.
“It is an honor to see the ‘Unexpected Adventures in North Alabama’ podcast receive a Silver award and to be recognized on the international level,” said Tami Reist, AMLA President and CEO. “The podcasts are not centered around interviews but are real conversations with our locals and experts in the industry.
“It is a credit to all of the hard work by (Social Media Manager) Melea Hames and the team at Relic to create something that is entertaining, engaging and informative that inspires others to want to come and explore the North Alabama region.”
Whether it’s hiking, fishing, golfing, history, museums, the arts or restaurants, North Alabama often finds its visitors pleasantly surprised by the unique attractions and adventures surrounding the area.
Hosted by Hames and produced by Relic (www.relicagency.com), the podcast is produced twice each month.
After releasing the initial episodes, the podcast was officially announced and results showed an increase in its listenership by 2,053% compared to the week before. Prior to the announcement, the podcast was averaging three listens per day. It received 159 listens in one day immediately following the announcement.
As of September 2022, the podcast has 26 episodes and 5,500-plus total listens. Top episodes include “The North Alabama Mural Trail,” “100 Things to Do Before You Die in North Alabama,” “A Trip to 1818 Farms,” “A Talented Mural Trail Artist” and “Take Me Out to the Ballgame.”
