HUNTSVILLE — Sammy Hagar complained about not being able to drive 55 in the early ’80s, but there is no speed limit on winds that are blowing through the area today and tonight.
In fact, the National Weather Service Huntsville office said gusts could potentially reach 50-55 mph. The front could bring a high chance of showers and storms this evening and overnight that may lead to locally heavy rainfall.
“Some storms could become strong and a localized severe storm or two can’t be ruled out,” the weather service said. “Gusty, damaging winds would be the primary threat.”
Wind gusts are forecast to reach 40-50 mph this afternoon and evening through early Tuesday. A Wind Advisory is in effect from 7 a.m. today until 7 a.m. Tuesday.
Additionally, the weather service said, a line of showers and storms will move through later this evening and into the early morning Tuesday. Localized heavy rainfall is possible, along with the potential for a few strong storms that may produce damaging winds.
