Weather legend James Spann throws first pitch at Trash Pandas game

The man, the myth, the weather legend took Madison by storm this weekend, throwing out the ceremonial first pitch for the Rocket City Trash Pandas.

James Spann stood on the pitcher’s mound at Toyota Field Saturday night, a little over a month after the original event — James Spann Bobblehead Night — was postponed due to weather. Ironically.

While the Trash Pandas took on Chattanooga, Spann signed autographs for fans and posed for photos with the team mascot.

It’s not Spann’s first rodeo on the pitcher’s mound, either. The longtime meteorologist has thrown out first pitches at Rocket City games before, making Saturday’s appearance less a one-off and more a recurring bit between Huntsville’s most trusted weatherman and its minor league team.
