Who let the Bards out? “Bard in the yard” returns to The Orion

Alabama A&M Bulldog Bards present the 5th annual Bard in the Yard theatrical performance at The Orion on Thursday, Oct. 1, 2026.

This year, the performers present “Shakespeare in Love & War,” a theatrical production featuring some of the most iconic scenes from your favorite bard, William Shakespeare. From swoon-worthy romance to heart racing sword fights, this production covers the most beloved moments of Shakespeare’s works.

This is a family-friendly performance, but viewer discretion is advised with on-stage sword combat. Tickets are free for the viewers to catch a performance at The Orion on Oct. 1 at 9:30 a.m., 10:30 a.m. and at 6 p.m.

The Bulldog Bards perform in partnership with Fantasy Playhouse. Additional performances of this production are available at Fantasy Playhouse on Sept. 30 as the first installment of Fantasy Playhouse’s Theater for Young Audience Series. These performances are available during the day and created with young audiences in mind. Following productions in the Fantasy Playhouse Young Audiences Series include A Not So Scary Christmas Carol, Schoolhouse Funk and The Little Engine That Could.
