Winter Park returns to the Orion Amphitheater

HUNTSVILLE — There’s a chill in the air, well, there will be eventually.
Nonetheless, Orion Amphitheater will be presenting Winter Park again this year, beginning Nov. 30.
“We are excited about the return of Winter Park as it illustrates the multitude of ways in which the Orion can host events and activities that are valuable and accessible to the wider community,” said Managing Director Ryan Murphy. “Winter Park is the perfect event to bring your whole family, friends and anyone visiting during the holiday months.”
Following last year’s inaugural event, the park will again feature seasonal activities including an ice-skating rink inside the amphitheater, meet and greets with Santa Claus in his workshop, festive performances, train rides, holiday movies and carolers.
And, of course, there will be a variety of food and beverage offerings such as popcorn roasting and s’mores kits.
The Orion will also implement environmentally friendly elements this season including the use of GLICE for the ice-skating rink — a synthetic material that reduces water and electric use, while providing a more satisfactory guest experience.
Open through Jan. 1, Winter Park is free to enter with additional activities and festive snacks and drinks available for purchase. The park will be open Thursdays from 4-9 p.m., Fridays from 4-10 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 9 p.m.
Winter Park will also be open for select off-schedule dates including Dec. 19, 20, 26 and 27; it will be closed Dec. 7 and Christmas Day.
In addition to last year’s Winter Park activities, there will also be a series of special events on-site this season including Christkindlmarket (a three-day Bavarian-style holiday market), Santa Paws (a day of pet photos with Santa), Winter SLAY (a fashion show and Drag performance on the ice rink) and Odette Onstage (on-stage dinners with Odette’s Chef Josh).
