Yorktown Systems puts a woman at the top: Suzanne Mathew named company president

HUNTSVILLE — Yorktown Systems Group has promoted Chief Financial Officer Suzanne Mathew to president of the company.

In just six years under Mathew’s guidance as CFO, Yorktown grew from a company with less than 90 employees to a corporation with more than 700 employees. Yorktown provides services and solutions for training, ISR, and mission support.

In the next five years, Mathew expects Yorktown to double their revenue.

“We have worked relentlessly to build a solid infrastructure with a talented, supportive team, and Yorktown is in a great position for growth,” she said.

As president and CFO, Mathew embraces the responsibility that comes with leadership.

“Being a woman in leadership in defense gives me the opportunity to impact young people and be a good example to those around me, showing my family, my children, and their friends that working hard and always striving to do the right things pays off in the end,” she said.

A University of Alabama in Huntsville alumna, Mathew specializes in project accounting, contract execution, strategic planning and DCAA compliance with over 25 years of government contracting experience.

She quickly progressed through the ranks from accountant to vice president of finance before serving as Yorktown’s CFO in 2016. Yorktown’s exponential growth is a testament to Mathew’s skills and dedication.

“Yorktown’s values are centered around pursuing excellence by working and living with integrity, treating others with respect, working together, and holding yourself accountable,” said CEO and co-founder Bryan Dyer. “Suzanne’s professional experience and dedication to Yorktown values makes her the perfect choice for a greater leadership role in the company.”

Over the course of her career, Mathew has developed a passion for mentoring young people. With a firm understanding of the job market and the demands of the North Alabama economy, Mathew has made a point of setting an example for those just embarking on their careers while also investing in their work ethic.

“We have a lot of young hires, and we really invest in the professional development of our employees,” she said. “Yorktown provides a quality place for hardworking young professionals to learn, grow, and thrive.”
