Youth soccer teams gear up for annual Alabama Labor Day Cup in Decatur

DECATUR – More than 70 teams from across the Southeast will travel to Decatur this month for an exhilarating youth soccer tournament.

Celebrating its sixth year, the Alabama Labor Day Cup is set for Aug. 31-Sept. 1s, with all matches hosted at the Jack Allen Recreation Complex.

Event Organizer Scott Spencer anticipates around 70 teams from seven states to compete in the two-day event. The Jack Allen Recreation Complex features 11 fields and two championship fields.

Originally held in Murfreesboro, Tenn., from 2012-17, the Labor Day Cup relocated to Decatur in 2018, enjoying continued success since.

The holiday weekend tournament offers competitive opportunities for U9-U19 boys’ and U9-U19 girls’ teams, with a guaranteed three games. The tournament features top-flight competition as well as second and third-tier levels of play, ensuring suitable competition for teams of all levels, from highly competitive to developmental. Trophies and medals will be awarded to the first and second places in each division.

Weekend parking passes will be available for $15 onsite and 2 complimentary parking passes will be provided per team.
