HUNTSVILLE — Dan Casey has joined the 1st Edge Pragmatic Artificial Intelligence and New Technology (PAINT) software development team. Casey is director for business development and systems engineer for the Huntsville company.

“I welcome the challenge of working with 1st Edge to expand our AI software tools and to address customer advanced technology demands,” Casey said.

Casey’s technical focus areas include weapon system design, modeling and simulation, test and integration, and program risk management. He also provided systems engineering and operations expertise to programs within the Army PEO Missiles and Space, the Navy Operational Test and Evaluation Force, and the Missile Defense Agency.

1st Edge’s PAINT approach applies AI and other technologies for missile defense, according to a news release. It captures subject matter expertise in automated software systems, allowing a broader set of requirements to be satisfied through computer analysis.

Casey has a master’s degree in atmospheric science from the University of Alabama in Huntsville and a bachelor’s in physics from Susquehanna University. He and his family have lived in the Huntsville area for more than 20 years.
