
ADECA recommends Athens’ Swan Creek Park project to National Park Service
ATHENS — A renovation project for an Athens park received a major boost thanks to the Alabama Department of Economic and Community Affairs.

According to a news release, ADECA has notified the city it is recommending Swan Creek Park grant project to the National Park Service.
NPS will now review the recommendation to determin if the project will be funded.
The city of Athens has applied for a $1 million grant to help fund the first phase of renovations at Swan Creek.
The Make A Way Foundation is partnering with the city on the inclusive ball field portion of the proposal.
The project also includes improved pickleball facilities and paving the walking track that connects to Swan Creek Greenway.
