Air quality alert issued for Madison, Morgan counties

HUNTSVILLE — Smoke from the Canadian wildfires that has blanketed the Northeast has reached the Tennessee Valley.

The National Weather Service Office in Huntsville has issued a poor air quality alert today for Madison and Morgan counties. The alert means the conditions could affect sensitive groups.

The alert will be in effect until 9 p.m.

Recommended actions are:

  • People with pulmonary or respiratory ailments or diseases should limit their outdoor activity.
  • If breathing becomes difficult, people should move indoors.
  • People should limit driving and combine errands.
