HUNTSVILLE — Alabama A&M University’s Office of Marketing, Communications, and Advancement has been named among the best in higher education in the 2023 Collegiate Advertising Awards Program.

Recognized for the first time in University history, AAMU brought home five honors – two Gold Awards (first place) and three Silver Awards (second place) for advertising and social media initiatives.

Last year’s out-of-home, digital, transportation, radio and social media advertising strategies took AAMU into new territory as part of the first phase of an effort to increase brand awareness and affinity across the nation.

“We’re honored to bring this recognition to The Hill,” said Assistant Vice President Aaron Thompson. “We are building a team and strategy focused on elevating and sustaining the AAMU brand.

“These awards remind us that we’re on the right track.”

The Collegiate Advertising Awards recognize higher education organizations for excellence in communications, marketing, advertising and promotions. Nominations are reviewed by a national panel of industry experts, with a possibility of 100 total points.

Awards are issued for those receiving top marks from judges placing them in the top 16% of the nation for advertising excellence.

Alabama A&M’s awards include:

  • GOLD – Radio Advertising Series: AAMU National Radio On-Air Campaign
  • GOLD – Fundraising Advertising: AAMU Marching Maroon & White Macy’s Parade Drive
  • SILVER – Social Media Content: AAMU 2023 Homecoming Thank You Video
  • SILVER – Social Media Marketing Series: AAMU 2023 “XXL Homecoming” Promotion
  • SILVER – Specialty Ad: – AAMU Nike Launch

“This recognition is a testament to the work of our team to present the AAMU brand in new ways on new platforms,” said Vice President Jamal Ali. “We’ve only scratched the surface of where we’ll go through consistent, efficient advertising strategy that shines a bright light on The Hill like never before.”

All winners are posted on the Collegiate Advertising Awards website.
