State of Higher Education 2025 (Huntsville Madison County Chamber of Commerce)

HUNTSVILLE –Registration for an event bringing together presidents from Madison County’s foremost public colleges and universities to share insights on the future of higher education in the region is now open.

According to the Huntsville-Madison County Chamber, the second annual State of Higher Education will feature Calhoun Community College President Dr. Jimmy Hodges, University of Alabama in Huntsville President Dr. Chuck Karr, Drake State Community & Technical College President Dr. Patricia G. Sims, and Alabama A&M University President Dr. Daniel A. Wims.

Organizers say the program is designed to highlight the mission, vision, and strategic goals of local higher education institutions while addressing their role in economic growth and workforce development.

“Attracting and retaining post-secondary talent is critical to our community’s long-term success. This is an opportunity for the business community to hear directly from higher education partners about programs and partnerships with their institutions.”

The discussion will showcase data, key initiatives, and education and training programs that prepare students for impactful careers and strengthen the region’s talent pipeline.

The event will take place on Oct. 15 from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at The Westin Huntsville’s Mediterranean Ballroom, located at 6800 Governors West. Check-in and breakfast begin at 7:30 a.m., with the program starting at 8 a.m.

Tickets are available for $60 for members and $100 for non-members. Reserved tables seating eight are available for $725.

The State of Higher Education event is hosted annually as a platform to foster collaboration between business and education leaders, ensuring that Madison County continues to develop the skilled workforce needed for sustained growth.
