Alabama A&M’s Cornelious Brown named to HBCU QB national watch list

NORMAL — Alabama A&M redshirt senior quarterback Cornelious Brown IV has been selected to the 2025 Quarter Phi Back National Watch List for top HBCU quarterbacks.

Brown saw action in 11 games for the Bulldogs last season, sporting a 131.7 quarterback rating. He went 127 of 222 passing for 1,666 yards, along with 12 touchdowns and seven interceptions.

The Birmingham native averaged 151.4 passing yards per game. In addition, Brown rushed 49 times for 161 yards, with one touchdown, while averaging 3.3 yards per game.

Past winners of the award include Shedeur Sanders (Jackson State, 2022), Jeremy Moussa (Florida A&M, 2023) and David Wright (Clark Atlanta, 2024).

The trophy is the only national award to recognize black quarterbacks at the collegiate and high school levels.

The 2025 HBCU Watchlist is comprised of quarterbacks from HBCUs from across the nation. This season, the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) placed six quarterbacks on the preseason list.

Alabama A&M kicks off the season Aug. 30 against Arkansas in Fayetteville.

The Bulldogs open at home Sept. 6 against Alcorn State for the 15th Annual Louis Crews Classic.

Fan Day
Alabama A&M Fan Day is Saturday at 10 a.m., highlighted by the annual Maroon and White scrimmage at noon.

Fan Day will feature the Bulldog Walk, an opportunity to meet the AAMU cheerleaders, the Marching Maroon and White Showcase, and inflatables. Additionally, fans can pick up their 2025 schedule of fall sports, including women’s soccer, men’s and women’s cross country, volleyball and football.

The event is free and open to the public.
