Alabama Bass Trail North Division Tournament set for Wheeler Lake

DECATUR – The Alabama Bass Trail’s North Division is gearing up for its upcoming tournament scheduled to take place on Wheeler Lake in Decatur.

The April 27 event, hosted by Decatur Morgan County Tourism, is expected to draw 450  anglers competing for the coveted top prize of $15,000.

As a B.A.S.S. (Bass Anglers Sportsman Society)-sanctioned event, the ABT Tournament Series features two divisions, North and South, each consisting of five tournaments held across five different lakes. With a maximum capacity of 225 boats per tournament, registration for the Wheeler Lake event is already full, with anglers from across the southeastern United States prepared to showcase their angling skills.

The tournament will launch at 6 a.m. at Ingalls Harbor and the weigh-in starts at 2:30 p.m. The takeoff and weigh-ins are free and open to the public. Spectators are encouraged to bring their own portable chairs and enjoy watching the results of the tournament.

Competitors will be vying for substantial cash prizes, including a guaranteed $15,000 for the first-place winner, with payouts totaling $64,450.00 distributed across 40 places.

  • Sixth Place $2,000
  • Seventh to 10th Place $1,300 each
  • 11th – 15th $1,000 each
  • 16th – 25th $750 each
  • 26th – 30th $600 each
  • 31st – 40th $500 each
  • Big Fish $1,000
  • ABT Gear $250
