Alabama GOP announces qualifying for House District 11 special election

HOOVER — Qualifying for the Republican special election primary for House District 11 will begin Wednesday, the Alabama Republican Party announced.

The district, which covers portions of Cullman and Blount Counties, was represented by Randall Shedd, who recently joined the staff of State Senate President Pro Tem Garlan Gudger.

Candidate qualifying is Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. and close March 11 at 5 p.m.

Individuals interested in running for the Republican nomination may qualify online at www.algop.org or in person at ALGOP Headquarters, 3505 Lorna Road in Hoover.

The special election dates are:

  • Special Primary Election: May 13
  • Special Primary Runoff (if needed): June 10
  • Special General Election: Aug. 26
