MONTGOMERY – With spring break and summer vacation just around the corner, travellers want to be sure their drives will be as smooth and worry-free as possible.
To help with the journey, the Alabama Department of Transportation has launched an updated version of its ALGO Traffic app and website.

The enhanced platform now includes real-time weather data and Alabama Service Assistance Patrol (ASAP) coverage details to improve user experience and help drivers avoid congestion while traveling.
“The latest ALGO Traffic update provides users with a more intuitive and informative experience,” said Allison Green, Drive Safe Alabama coordinator. “New features like the animated radar layer and expanded ASAP coverage allow drivers to plan around weather conditions and access roadside support when they need it.”
Some key updates include:
- Animated Radar Layer for Weather Conditions
The ALGO Traffic map now provides an animated radar layer to display current and forecasted precipitation conditions. This feature allows drivers to anticipate weather patterns that may affect their travel. - Expanded Alabama Service Assistance Patrol (ASAP) Coverage
ALGO Traffic now includes details on the ASAP coverage areas and service times. With this feature, motorists have easy access to roadside support when needed, enhancing overall road safety and responsiveness. - Dark Mode for Enhanced Visibility
In response to user feedback, the ALGO Traffic web app now offers dark mode compatibility. This setting provides a more comfortable viewing experience, particularly in low-light conditions. - Improvements for Android and iOS Tablet Devices
The update includes advanced user interface improvements across Android and iOS to improve the user experience on tablet-style devices. These refinements streamline navigation and improve the visibility of critical traffic information.
