HUNTSVILLE — Allegiant has landed in the Rocket City.
Again.
Huntsville International Airport and the carrier announced at a news conference today the addition of nonstop routes with service to Fort Lauderdale, St. Petersburg/Clearwater/Tampa, and Orlando. Allegiant will return its service at HSV in November.
In 2008, the carrier left Huntsville as it canceled flights to Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.

“Today, we are not only celebrating the return of Allegiant, we are celebrating the fruits of our community choosing to fly Huntsville first,” Huntsville International Airport Board Chair Joey Ceci said. “Huntsville International is attracting great airline partners like Allegiant because airlines are taking notice that there is demand in Huntsville and North Alabama for quality, affordable air service that Allegiant provides.”
To celebrate, Allegiant is offering one-way fares on the new routes as low as $39.
The new routes between Huntsville International Airport and the following cities include:
- Fort Lauderdale, via Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport beginning Nov. 19, with one-way fares as low as $39.
- St. Petersburg, Fla., via St. Pete–Clearwater International Airport beginning March 5, 2026 with one-way fares as low as $39.
- Sanford, Fla., via Orlando Sanford International Airport beginning Feb. 12, 2026 with one-way fares as low as $39.
“As we proudly extend Allegiant’s footprint in Alabama, we are genuinely honored to be welcomed with such warmth and enthusiasm by the Huntsville community,” Allegiant Vice President of Planning & Revenue Kristen Schilling-Gonzales said at a press conference at the airport this morning. “Our decision to invest here is grounded in a deep belief in the remarkable spirit and potential of Huntsville, a city that continually demonstrates its dynamism and hospitality.
“Today marks only the beginning of our investment in the community.”
The new routes, launching this year and early 2026, will provide nonstop service between these cities and expand Allegiant’s growing presence in popular leisure destinations.
Huntsville International Airport has been voted the number one small airport in the U.S. by Newsweek Reader’s Choice Awards (2024, 2025) and USA Today (2020) and served more than 1.6 million passengers in 2024. Five airlines serve the 18-county service region in North Alabama and South Central Tennessee with non-stop commercial service to 18 destinations.
“We are really looking forward to Allegiant joining our team at Huntsville International Airport,” said Airport CEO Butch Roberts. “They are an award-winning airline, and our airport has three times been voted the best small airport in the U.S. There is huge demand for leisure travel in our market, and Allegiant has recognized the opportunity here by bringing three popular Florida vacation destinations closer with nonstop flights right from Huntsville to St. Pete/Clearwater, Sanford/Orlando and Fort Lauderdale.
“We couldn’t be more pleased to share this exciting news with our community.”
