A&M’s Deane named SWAC women’s soccer Offensive Player of the Year

PRAIRIE VIEW, Texas — Alabama A&M women’s soccer forward Czaske Deane concluded her sophomore season by being named the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Offensive Player of the Year, the conference announced.

Deane and midfielder Brea Bailey were selected to the SWAC’s postseason first team, and defender Anita Frederick-Sigaran earned second-team honors.

The Bulldogs open the SWAC Women’s Soccer Tournament today as the No. 4 seed and will meet host and No. 5 seed Prairie View A&M today in the quarterfinals. Kickoff is set for 1 p.m. from the PVAMU Soccer Complex and the game will be streamed on SWAC TV.

Deane was a three-time SWAC Offensive Player of the Week and a Preseason All-SWAC Second Team selection. She has played in every game, logging more than 950 minutes.

The Ajax, Ontario, Canada native led the team in points (21) and goals (10). She ranked 12th nationally and first in the SWAC in game-winning goals (5), second in the SWAC in goals per game, total goals, total points and third in points per game.

Bailey was a two-time SWAC Newcomer of the Week honoree, where she played in 16 games, logging nearly 600 minutes. The Lafayette, La. native notched eight points, scoring four goals, including one-game winner.

A First Team All-SWAC Preseason selection, Frederick played in every game, logging 1,228 minutes on the backline. The Alexandria, Va. native recorded eight points, logging a team-best six assists and one goal.
