Area utilities crews working to restore power after storms

HUNTSVILLE — Thousands of residents were without power overnight following the storms that hit the Tennessee Valley.

However, just after 7 a.m., the number of customers without power was 70, Huntsville Utilities said.

“At its peak, approximately 5,000 customers were impacted by last night’s storm system,” the utility said this morning.

Just after midnight, crews responded to a power outage in southwest Huntsville impacting customers from I-565 south to Bob Wallace Avenue and from Sparkman Drive east to Triana Boulevard. The power was restored about two hours later.
A couple hours later, Huntsville Utilities reported scattered power outages after a storm system moved through the area.
The largest of the outages was in northwest Madison County impacting customers from Bobo Section Road south to Beaver Dam Road and from Old Railroad Bed Road east to Murphy Hill Road, the utility said.
“We appreciate the patience of our customers as our Electric Operations crews worked in the rain to restore service,” the utility said. “They will continue to do so until all service is restored.”
The Scottsboro Electric Power Board reported more than 600 customers without power in an area north of Veterans Drive between East Willow Street and John T. Reid Parkway.
Cullman Electric Co-op said its crews were working to restore power to nearly 200 customers.
