Christina Hammock Koch, an electrical engineer, attended Space Camp every summer from 1992-96.

“We are thrilled and honored that Space Camp alumna Christina Koch has been chosen as part of the crew of the Artemis II mission,” Dr. Kimberly Robinson, CEO and Executive Director of the U.S. Space & Rocket Center said. “As a member of our Space Camp Hall of Fame, Christina exemplifies our mission to inspire the next generation of explorers and demonstrates that dreams launched here can take someone to the stars.”

NASA and the Canadian Space Agency made the announcement this morning of the three NASA astronauts and one Canadian who will orbit the moon on the Artemis II mission scheduled for November 2024.

The other astronauts include Americans Victor Glover and Reid Wiseman and Canadian Jeremy Hansen.

In 2019 while at the International Space Station, Koch took part in the first all-female spacewalk. She and her crewmates will launch aboard the Marshall Space Flight Center-managed Space Launch System rocket.
