HUNTSVILLE – Dr. Margrit von Braun will return to a place rich with personal and historic meaning when she takes the stage as guest speaker for the Space Explorers Celebration in October at the U.S. Space & Rocket Center’s Davidson Center.

Von Braun, daughter of Dr. Wernher von Braun, will share her family’s memories of Huntsville during the early days of the Apollo program in a talk titled “Reaching for the Moon – A Family Adventure.”

The evening event, hosted by the NASA Marshall Retirees Association in partnership with the U.S. Space & Rocket Center, is both a celebration and a reunion. It brings together former and current NASA and contractor employees along with their families to honor a shared legacy of space exploration.

The Oct. 1 celebration begins at 4:30 p.m. in the Apollo Courtyard, where families can visit the Wall of Honor in Rocket Park. The wall features the names of more than 21,000 NASA employees, including 44 names newly added this year. A kiosk allows visitors to view the career histories of both NASA and contractor employees.

A reception will follow in the Davidson Center’s Saturn V Hall at 5:30 p.m., with dinner at 6 and von Braun’s keynote address to cap the evening.

Organizers say the program is part of October’s annual Space Exploration Month, recognized by both the City of Huntsville and Madison County, and serves as a joyful reminder of the people who have fueled America’s space program across generations.

A portion of proceeds from the event will support the U.S. Space & Rocket Center. Information and tickets are available here.
