HUNTSVILLE – The groundbreaking Alabama School of Cyber Technology & Engineering is holding just that — a groundbreaking.

The Sentinels, the school’s athletic teams, will finally have a home after playing all of their games and events either as a road team or the home team at a borrowed arena.

ASCTE, the nation’s first school of its kind, is expanding with a Jan. 26 groundbreaking for a Students Activity Center at the school’s campus in Cummings Research Park.

The SAC will encompass an 1,100-seat gymnasium, purpose-built basketball and volleyball courts, a dedicated wrestling room, fully equipped locker rooms, multifunctional office spaces, a specialized band room, archery practice areas, a spacious mezzanine, concessions, and more.

“This momentous occasion represents a milestone in the evolution of our school,” said school President Matt Massey. “The Student Activities Center embodies our dedication to providing a well-rounded educational experience for our students.

“It is not just a building; it is a hub where talent will flourish, passions will be nurtured, and friendships will be forged.”
