Avion giving fund awards $20,000 to nonprofits

HUNTSVILLE — Avion Solutions’ employee-led giving fund, Avion Takes Action, has awarded $20,000 in grants to four nonprofit organizations, the company announced.

The grants are distributed in communities where Avion has facilities. The organizations receiving $5,000 each are the Community Free Dental Clinic and Rose of Sharon Soup Kitchen in Huntsville; New Hope Children’s Clinic; and Covenant House Missouri in St. Louis, Mo.

These funds support interventions for abused, neglected, and displaced children and youth, the company said. The grants also help provide medical and dental care for under-resourced families and veterans, and to purchase staples for the homeless.

The Community Free Dental Clinic provides free dental services to low-income, elderly, and veterans. The $5,000 grant will provide a year’s worth of numbing agents for all extractions performed in the clinic.

New Hope Children’s Clinic is a school-based health clinic that will use its grant for flu and strep testing and treatments.

The Rose of Sharon Soup Kitchen, which works to feed the homeless, will produce 100 food boxes to be distributed within the Huntsville homeless community.

The Covenant House Missouri serves runaway, trafficked, and at-risk youths. The grant, through Avion’s Chesterfield, Mo., site, will help provide campus utilities, cafeteria services, and medication.

Huntsville-based Avion Solutions is a 100% employee-owned engineering and logistics solutions provider for complex military-grade projects.

The Avion Takes Action fund, in part, supports the company’s corporate vision to improve communities where they have employees.

The program accepts grant applications on a rolling basis throughout the year and awards funding each quarter. To apply for a grant, click here.
