SHEFFIELD — Bank Independent gains two new mortgage loan originators after promoting two team members, it was announced.

Shawn Melampy will serve the eastern market and the Madison County area. He started his career with Bank Independent as a relationship banker in Huntsville and was promoted to a mortgage relationship specialist. He graduated cum laude from the University of Alabama at Birmingham with a bachelor’s degree in business management. Melampy also has an associate’s degree in liberal arts from Rowan University in New Jersey.

Ray Nichols will serve the western market and the Muscle Shoals area. He started at Bank Independent as a mortgage relationship specialist. He has a bachelor’s degree in history from Auburn University and spent 10 years in the food and hospitality industry before joining Bank Independent.

“Ray and Shawn have held important roles on our team in support capacities, and both are very deserving of promotions to mortgage loan originators,” said Amy Henry, senior vice president of mortgage lending for the Sheffield-headquartered bank. “They have a passion for our mission and demonstrate a genuine desire to develop relationships and serve others.

“We are excited to see each of them continue to grow and make a positive difference in the communities they serve.”
