Four Bank Independent employees who have helped support the organization’s operations for years have been promoted to officer positions, recognizing their leadership, expertise and institutional knowledge in key internal banking functions, according to Bank Independent.
The promotions include Macy Gooch, Becky Hughes, Tyler Martin and Justina Weston, each of whom serves in a key internal role supporting the bank’s day-to-day operations.
“These promotions reflect the depth of talent and leadership we are fortunate to have across Bank Independent,” CEO Macke Mauldin said. “Macy, Becky, Tyler and Justina each bring valuable expertise, a strong service mindset and a commitment to excellence that strengthens our organization from the inside out. We are proud to recognize their accomplishments and look forward to the continued impact they will make in these important officer roles.”
The promotions span accounting, loan processing, technology and payroll, recognizing employees with more than six decades of combined experience at the bank.
Gooch was promoted to Officer – Assistant Controller after beginning her career at Bank Independent in 2019 as a part-time teller. She later served as an Accounting Intern, Accounts Payable Clerk, Accountant and Senior Accountant. A Certified Public Accountant, Gooch earned both her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Master of Accountancy from the University of North Alabama and is continuing her professional development through the Alabama Banking School.
Hughes was promoted to Paralegal/Loan Processing Officer. She joined the bank in 1996 as a part-time teller while attending college and later served as a Loan Assistant, in Legal Support and in Centralized Loan Processing. According to the bank, Hughes helped establish its centralized processing department and brings nearly three decades of institutional knowledge to her new role. She holds a bachelor’s degree in social work and business, along with a paralegal degree, from the University of North Alabama.
Since joining Bank Independent in March 2021, Martin has built what the bank described as a strong track record in application support and collaboration. The bank credited his technical expertise and commitment to serving internal teams in announcing his promotion to Applications Services Officer. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Computer Information Systems from the University of North Alabama.
Weston was promoted to Payroll Officer after nearly two decades with Bank Independent. Since joining the bank in 2007, she has built a foundation through progressive roles in accounting, human resources and payroll, serving as an Accountant, HR Generalist, Senior HR Generalist and HR Team Lead before moving into payroll leadership. According to the bank, her promotion reflects her operational knowledge, attention to detail and commitment to accuracy, compliance and team member experience.
Founded in 1947, Bank Independent operates 33 traditional sales offices across North Alabama, along with an on-campus Deshler Tiger Branch and a Digital Sales Office.
