Booz Allen relocated their senior technical leader and distinguished engineer Gary Pomajevich to Huntsville in support of the firm’s decades of work with the FBI. Together, they are establishing Huntsville and Redstone Arsenal as the world’s leading innovation hubs for next-generation investigative and operational technologies.
When Booz Allen opened its 6,000-square-foot, state-of-the-art Innovation Center in the Stovehouse factory complex in 2020, it was to bring their 21st century innovation to the Huntsville community and to deepen their support for their clients here.
One of those clients is the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), whose own footprint has grown significantly on Redstone Arsenal. They plan to grow their current base of Huntsville employees to a workforce of at least 3,400 by 2026.
Now both entities have deepened their roots in Huntsville with state-of-the-art Innovation Centers.
Pomajevich has worked with Booz Allen for 25 years, helping the firm support major intelligence, national security, and law enforcement operations, including those of the FBI. He has spent most of his career working behind the scenes as an embedded, onsite technical leader serving his clients and their missions.
According to Booz Allen Senior Vice President Carl Ghattas, who is a leader within the firm’s Justice, Homeland Security, and Transportation business who also served in the FBI, Booz Allen continues to see after 20 years in Huntsville, enormous potential for collaboration with clients like the FBI, who turn to this community for innovative solutions.
“Gary’s relocation demonstrates our commitment to bringing together the best and brightest talent to support FBI missions,” said Ghattas. “His moving to Huntsville delivers value in numerous ways, from the fresh thinking he brings to our office, to his deep expertise with supporting the FBI’s mission, and his experience standing up new technical capabilities,”
The move coincides with the FBI’s multiyear effort to expand its presence at Redstone Arsenal and transform the location into a hub for technology development. The FBI’s plans include enhancing its training programs, building an innovation center dedicated to cyber threat intelligence and analytics, and creating a “smart city” where FBI employees can test tools in a real-world setting.
Relocating from Quantico, Virginia, Pomajevich is no stranger to Huntsville.
He was central to the stand-up and success of the FBI’s Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC) technical exploitation component in 2003 and his team supported its successful relocation and continued mission at Redstone Arsenal in 2017 as one of the first major programs to transition to Huntsville.
His multifaceted background includes work in reverse engineering, technical analysis and exploitation, software development, and more specifically the development of state-of-the-art investigative tools.
“I’m looking forward to beginning a new chapter in my career with Booz Allen here in the Rocket City,” said Pomajevich. “Although I’ll be working in a new city, my focus and passion remains the same as it has for decades: to serve our clients and serve our employees. It’s especially rewarding to see the results help solve a case or stop a terrorist plot. In partnership, we have an opportunity to revolutionize how the FBI conducts its mission through innovation and bringing new capabilities quickly to the field.”
Ghattas added that Pomajevich is not the first, nor will he be the last member of the Booz Allen team to relocate to Huntsville in support of the FBI. As more of the firm’s programs transition down, waves of professionals will likely transition their Booz Allen careers from the national capital region to Huntsville, as well as with dozens of targeted new hires from within the region.
“Booz Allen in Huntsville is a place where you can build a rewarding career; develop new, forward-leaning skills; and apply them to protect the American people from 21st century threats,” said Ghattas.
In addition to defense expertise, the Huntsville team works at the leading edge of strategy and technology, focusing on federal civilian agencies and their diverse missions. They work hand in hand with academia, small business, and strategic regional partners to bring unique insights to complex mission problems and apply innovative solutions in the realms of cybersecurity, investigative technology, and digital transformation.
Booz Allen currently supports numerous Army customers in Huntsville, including the Systems Simulation, Software and Integration Directorate (S3I), the Rapid Capabilities and Critical Technologies Office (RCCTO), the Prototype Integration Facility (PIF) and PEO Aviation, in addition to work with the Missile Defense Agency (MDA), Department of Justice’s (DOJ) Terrorist Explosive Device Analytical Center (TEDAC), and NASA.
