Bulldogs picked to finish fourth in SWAC East preseason

BIRMINGHAM — Alabama A&M University was chosen fourth in the Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) East Division predicted order of finish, the conference announced today during the annual SWAC football Media Day.

Alabama A&M, which went 6-6 overall and finished fourth in the conference standings with a 4-4 record last season, registered 62 points in claiming the fourth spot in the predicted order of finish.

Jackson State, the defending conference and Black College Football National Champions, was chosen first, with 16 first-place votes and 126 points. Florida A&M was selected second with 99 points, with Alabama State third (91 points). Bethune-Cookman (45) and Mississippi Valley State (24) rounded out the East predicted order of finish.

In the SWAC West Division, Southern was chosen first, with 17 first-place votes and 120 points. Alcorn State was second with 90 points, followed by Prairie View A&M (72), Texas Southern (60), Grambling State (55) and Arkansas-Pine Bluff (28).

Alabama A&M opens the season Aug. 30 at Arkansas, with a 3:15 p.m. kickoff from Donald W. Reynolds Razorbacks Stadium and televised on the SEC Network. The Bulldogs’ home opener is a one week later (Sept. 6) with the 15th Annual Louis Crews Classic against Alcorn State.

Season tickets are on sale and can be purchased online at Hometown Tickets – Alabama A&M Athletics (aamusports.com) or at the AAMU Ticket Office on campus.

The AAMU Ticket Office at Louis Crews Stadium is open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
