MADISON — A California man faces sodomy, rape and child sex charges following an investigation by Madison Police.

Stephon Taylor, 33, of Riverside, Calif., was extradited to Madison for sodomy 2nd degree, rape 2nd degree, and traveling to meet a child for an unlawful sex act, Madison PD said in a news release.

The department investigated allegations that Taylor traveled to Madison in August to engage in sexual activity with a juvenile under the age of 16.

As a result of that investigation, arrest warrants were obtained by Madison Police and Taylor was taken into custody by local authorities in Riverside, the news release said.

After his extradition to Madison on Wednesday, Taylor was booked into the Madison County Jail.

Police said due to the age of the alleged victim and the on-going investigation, no further information can be released at this time.
