HUNTSVILLE – Kim Caudle Lewis, a Huntsville native and owner and CEO of PROJECTXYZ, announced Tuesday on LinkedIn she is going to run for the Huntsville City Council’s District 5 seat.
That position is held by John Meredith.
In her post, Lewis wrote, “After thoughtful consideration and fervent prayer, it is with great excitement and a profound sense of purpose that I announce my candidacy for the Huntsville City Council District 5 seat.
“As a proud longtime resident of Huntsville, born and raised in this area, my love for our community runs deep. I’ve had the privilege of witnessing Huntsville’s transformation from a small but charming city to a vibrant and bustling metropolitan hub, and I am honored to have been a part of that growth in many meaningful ways.’’
Qualifying opens in June for the Aug. 27 municipal elections in Huntsville. The mayor (Tommy Battle, incumbent), Districts 1 (Devyn Keith, incumbent) and 5 (Meredith, incumbent) of the city council and Districts 1 (Michelle Watkins, incumbent) and 5 (Carlos Matthews, incumbent) of the school board are on the ballot.
PROJECTXYZ, which has offices in Huntsville and Muscle Shoals, bills itself as “a business that provides services and products in the areas of manufacturing, engineering, logistics, technology, alternative energy, and international foreign military sales.”
“Huntsville’s exceptional quality of life is celebrated nationwide, consistently ranking among the top ten cities in the United States,’’ Lewis said in her post. “This distinction isn’t a coincidence. It’s a direct result of our community’s dedication to ensuring that its residents have the economic resources they need to thrive and compete.
“Creating employment opportunities in North Alabama has been a central focus of mine, recognizing the vital role a thriving job market plays in the well-being of individuals and families seeking a fulfilling life. As we navigate the city’s continued growth, it is imperative that we have leaders who are mindful of the hardworking individuals who call Huntsville home.’’
