HUNTSVILLE — CFD Research is extending its healthcare footprint in Huntsville.

In a joint venture with Nashville-based OtherLeft Ventures, a healthcare-oriented software company, CFD has created a spin-off company called TheraVista Health, a digital health company focused on the physical therapy market.

The new TheraVista Health platform digitizes traditional vestibular exercises into fun and engaging tablet-based games.

The treatment program is customized and managed by the patient’s vestibular therapist and allows for remote therapeutic monitoring and reimbursement, thus letting physical therapists extend their reach into patients’ homes, resulting in improved outcomes and increased revenue for the practice, according to representatives for both companies.

“This technology was developed as part of a National Institute of Health Small Business Innovative Research project with the goal of making vestibular therapy more accessible and engaging for patients, while also providing a tool for therapists to track progress and optimize treatment plans”, said Dr. Paulien Roos, principal investigator at CFD Research.

In conjunction with the company formation, Scott Frederick, formerly with PointClear Solutions and Contessa Health, will serve as CEO of the new venture.

At Contessa Health, he was instrumental in pioneering at-home inpatient hospital care.

“TheraVista Health is a new option for vestibular rehabilitation,” said Frederick. “Our platform brings the benefits of traditional vestibular therapy into the digital age, making it more convenient and engaging for patients, and more efficient for therapists.

“We believe this will greatly improve patient outcomes and make vestibular therapy more accessible to those who need it.”

Sameer Singhal, CFD Research president and CEO, said they are excited about the partnership with OtherLeft Ventures using its specialized business-to-business healthcare software.

“After several years of R&D, it is rewarding to see our innovations reach the market and make a difference to the lives of physical therapy patients through the formation of TheraVista Health,” Singhal said.
