Collins hanging up her political hat?
Changes might be coming to the Morgan County Legislative Delegation. Rumor in the River City is that Rep. Terri Collins may not run for re-election in 2026. Collins has represented the 8th District in Decatur since 2010. The popular legislator will leave big shoes to fill should she decline to seek re-election.
Will he, Orr won’t he?
Insiders also say that State Sen. Arthur Orr is getting a lot of encouragement to run for Attorney General which would leave his Senate seat open as well. While it is too early for candidates to start lining up, expect that if either of those positions are open seats they will draw a wide field of candidates. Current AG Steve Marshall is term limited and has been mentioned many times as a possible candidate for governor or Sen. Tommy Tuberville’s position should he pursue other opportunities …
Caudle Lewis opens a McAlister’s Deli
Former Huntsville City Council candidate and former State Senate candidate Kimberly Caudle Lewis has announced she and her husband Larry are re-opening the franchise location McAlister’s Deli in Huntsville. Apparently, they have also signed on to open a location in the Shoals area by 2026.
Bart’s beers
The Historic Huntsville Foundation will celebrate its 50th anniversary with a recreation of the Hotel Monte Sano. “An Evening at the Hotel Monte Sano” will take place at the mountaintop home of Susan and Tommy Siniard on the site of the former hotel. Singer-songwriter Taylor Burton will be on hand to entertain while a tiny additional detail caught our eye, “Beer selection by Bart Siniard”. The local attorney and sometime 256 Today contributor must know his beer as well as he knows local history. Cheers, Bart!
