Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville to host financial seminar on Secure Act 2.0

HUNTSVILLE – A nationally recognized philanthropic advisor will share tips for financial advisors at a seminar next week hosted by the Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville.

“Professional Advisors: Secure Act 2.0” features Paul Caspersen, the director of the Center for Philanthropy at The American College of Financial Services.

The seminar is designed to provide professional advisors with a sophisticated understanding of the latest retirement planning rules under the SECURE Act 2.0. Advisors can earn two CPE/MCLE credit hours by attending the event.

Caspersen will discuss the implications of the legislation for trust planning and how charitable strategies can be used to mitigate the loss of “stretch” IRA treatment.

Caspersen has nearly 30 years of expertise in the field and has served as a senior philanthropic advisor at the University of Florida. He is also the founder and president of Planned Giving Interactive, a software and advisory firm. His leadership on topics such as post-SECURE act charitable planning strategies has been featured in peer-reviewed journals, including Trusts & Estates.

The Community Foundation of Greater Huntsville partners with financial advisors across North Alabama to help clients on their generosity journey. The foundation assists advisors with philanthropic tools to enrich the charitable-giving strategies of their clients.

The seminar will be at the Jackson Center beginning at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday. It is open to estate planning attorneys, trust officers, CPAs, planned giving officers, and financial advisors. The cost is register is $75.
